The Wirikuta Preservation Project: Jake Singer (Navajo Elder) / Rogelio Carrillo ( Wixarika Elder) / Santiago Alonso (Wixarika Advisor) / Matthew Schroeder (Navajo Advisor) This panel seeks a dialogue between the indigenous peoples of Mexico and the U.S. on their relationship with the entheogen peyote. The current status of peyote in Texas gardens and the Wirikuta desert will be discussed, as well as its relevance in the defense of indigenous tribes. Jake Singer (traditional Navajo medicine man) and Rogelio Carrillo (traditional Wixárika medicine man) will share their stories. Santiago Alonso and Matthew Schroeder will also participate, addressing the protection of Wirikuta and support for indigenous communities.
