Ketamine Treatment in West Jordan, Utah Ketamine therapy is an alternative therapeutic treatment for mental disorders resistant to traditional therapy and medication. Ketamine has demonstrated effective, promising results when treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, drug and alcohol addiction, and chronic pain. Ketamine targets the causes of mental illness, instead of only dulling the symptoms. It enables the mind to heal itself by rewiring malfunctioning neurons, creating new neural pathways in the brain.

The Process

STEP

1

Schedule a Ketamine Treatment Consultation Schedule an appointment via call or text at 385-685-1410 or fill out the form. During the call, we will discuss any questions, if ketamine therapy is a proper fit for your goals, and set a plan to move forward with treatment.
STEP

2

HOW TO PREPARE FOR KETAMINE THERAPY Ketamine treatments have incredible healing potential for mental and physical wellness. As a result, more and more men and women are flocking to Ketamine clinics to benefit from this new, innovative treatment. Ketamine is a medication that was first approved as a sedative by the FDA in 1970. It is a popular anesthetic because, unlike most other anesthetics, it does not depress the respiratory system. This means it will not affect a patient’s breathing. Therefore, Ketamine is often given in the Emergency Room to children. Recent research shows Ketamine, at low doses, provides a profound improvement in a variety of mental illnesses. Studies throughout the country centered on depression, anxiety, addiction, and more continue to show that Ketamine’s effect on the mind leads to unbelievable symptom relief. If Ketamine is right for you, there are many ways you can prepare for this therapy in order to maximize your experience. Enhance the potential of your treatment sessions by learning about Ketamine therapy preparation.
STEP

3

KETAMINE THERAPY PREP LIST FOR TREATMENT: Do not eat or drink anything except water for 8 hours prior to treatment. Wear comfortable clothing. Bring a blanket and pillow. Bring a prepared playlist of songs (we recommend music that is relaxing with no commercial interruptions). Bring headphones. Some patients find it helpful to practice mindfulness or meditation prior to treatment to help them fully relax during the treatment.
STEP

4

COMPLIMENTARY VIRTUAL GROUP PREPARATION SESSION We invite you to our complimentary, virtual group preparation session held every Tuesday from 5:00 PM – 5:30 PM over Zoom. We welcome all new or returning clients! Cameras and microphones are optional. Please be aware that other patients joining the session will be able to see your display name. This session is facilitated by our trauma-informed integration and life coach, Ali. Join us with your questions (such as logistics, what to expect, playlist, etc.), and to set intentions for your upcoming session.
STEP

5

During your treatment, a medical professional will administer the ketamine via injection or infusion. A low dose of Ketamine is administered intramuscularly or infused through an IV over 40-60 minutes, during which time a provider will closely monitor your progression. Ketamine takes effect almost immediately, and you may experience an altered or dissociative state. Ketamine is a safe drug and does not affect the respiratory system, but it is also a dissociative anesthetic that can induce a psychedelic state. Dissociation can manifest as a type of out-of-body experience, where you partially lose awareness of your body. Most patients find the experience relaxing and pleasant.
STEP

6

After your treatment session, you will rest and metabolize for up to 2 hours. Ketamine fully metabolizes within 3 – 6 hours. If you need more time at the clinic, our team at Therapeutic Alternatives will move you into a comfortable resting area. Patients are required to have someone drive them home and should not drive or operate machinery on the day of their treatment.
STEP

7

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS Most patients report experiencing euphoric, dissociative, and profound feelings in addition to an out-of-body experience. Other patients report blurred vision, confusion, nausea, and slurred speech. Other known side effects of Ketamine include hallucinations, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and an increased heart rate. These symptoms are temporary and gradually subside after completion of the treatment. A normal mental state is returned quickly after the procedure is complete.
STEP

8

AFTER KETAMINE Just as preparing well for Ketamine treatments can maximize your experience, there are things you can do after treatment to maximize your Ketamine results. Here are a few tips for Ketamine aftercare that can help sustain the benefits of your treatment sessions: Therapeutic Alternatives recommends continued follow-ups with mental health professionals after Ketamine treatments. Our providers can provide referrals upon request. Continue any prescribed medications. Work closely with health professionals and physicians to align your physical and mental wellness. Surround yourself with the support of your family, friends, and other individuals that have your best interest at heart. As you receive Ketamine treatments, you may become ready to make big and small life changes. Having support around you can make the most prominent difference in long-term, positive change.

They set out to create a clinic that reflected this belief that inviting and comfortable surroundings could foster a more ideal environment for healing to happen. Each treatment room at Ketamine Therapy at Therapeutic Alternatives is designed with this philosophy in mind.
