Ketamine therapy is a novel treatment that uses the dissociative anesthetic ketamine, in safe controlled doses to promote enhanced cerebral neuroplasticity. Ketamine treatment, in combination with psychotherapy or integration, can be very effective in treating health conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, or addiction. Ketamine can be a powerful pattern disruptor and can help people move away from narratives and behavior patterns that can become engrained into their day to day lives.
At The Space Between, we strive to provide personalized care in a safe, comfortable space where transformational experiences can occur. We are focused on “set and setting” where attention is placed to being in a grounded, stable and self-reflective state prior to the administration of the medicine. During the session, the patient remains under physician supervision by our staff anesthesiologist, and is monitored throughout.
During the session, patients may experience a range of sensations, including dissociation, visual arrays or geometric shapes, altered perception of time, and synesthesia or “mingling of the senses”.
After the administration of ketamine, the patient is encouraged to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences with a trained therapist. This can take place on site with one of our KAP-trained therapists (Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy), or can take place remotely at the discretion of the patient. The therapist can help the patient process any insights or emotions that arise during the session and work with them to develop strategies for integrating their psychedelic experience into their day to day lives.
The effects of psychedelic ketamine therapy can be profound and long-lasting. Studies have shown that ketamine can reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety in as little as a few hours and that the effects can last for several weeks or even months.
