I have had a private counselling practice since 2013. The approaches i utilize include internal family systems and relational therapy. I believe we all have inner children inside us that need healing. I am trauma informed and come from an understanding that most of our dysfunctional behaviors are a result of maladaptive coping strategies we had to develop earlier in life in order to survive . We are not broken. We are wounded and we can heal.
I believe psychedelics assist us in transferring thoughts into intrinsic beliefs. The process is foundational in helping us move from the theoretical and perceptual to creating internal beliefs and experiential knowledge. Psychedelics create opportunities for unlocking the root causes of suffering, allowing people to recognize and fundamentally change their patterned feelings, thoughts and behaviours that keep us stuck.
I understand the fundamental and integral need to hold space and provide empathetic presence so to encourage an opportunity for my clients to explore, contemplate and consider their inherent sense of ‘knowing’ and intuitive wisdom. I have been commended for my unwavering genuine, compassionate and positive regard for people. My approach prioritizes, first and foremost, building a strong foundational trusting relationship with my clients where they have reported feeling valued, seen, and wholeheartedly accepted. I have come to know my position as a therapist in the utilization of psychedelics to be mainly client-driven, emphasizing listening and non-directive communication.
The Process

I typically like to take a few sessions to get to know new clients who are interested in psychedelic therapy, just as I would with my talk therapy clients. This offers us a means of trust building, provides us some time to get to know and become familiar with each other, and also gives me a chance to get a brief sense of your history and background, to identify goals, discuss your intentions, and essentially just give structure to the whole process. It’s also imperative that we both take the opportunity during these initial sessions to assess if we’re a good fit. The first sessions are your preparation sessions. There will be homework and assignments that I will encourage you to complete which will help you develop a fertile mindset for your psychedelic assisted therapy session.

The second step is what I like to refer to as your medicine ceremony. It is important to note that I am not permitted to supply or source your chosen compound. The day of the ceremony, you will fast in the morning and come to my office wearing loose, comfortable clothing. I often encourage clients to bring along items of comfort too. You will be provided with an eye mask. Duration of ceremonies depends on the medicine taken. For example, ketamine ceremonies are much shorter, lasting a total of about 2.5 hours, while psilocybin and MDMA ceremonies can be anywhere between 4-6 hours. You will have to arrange transportation with a family member or friend as you cannot operate a vehicle after your ceremony.

Lastly, we will have a minimum of 3 integration sessions. One session will take place the day after your ceremony and then we’ll plan on seeing each other again one week and one month post ceremony. This is where we take the pieces and information revealed to you during your ceremony and we will discuss ways you may be able to put them into practice. This is where we make meaning of the information and then identify practical steps you can implement in an effort to create lasting change in your life.
