Creating order in your life. Setting your intentions. Grounding your emotions. Coming into alignment with yourself. In the current parlance, this is described as "set and setting." This came from Timothy Leary in the 1960s and was a complete guess on his part. The idea of set and setting is not the same as preparation, and is no substitute for it. Pillows, warm blankets, comfortable mats, and soft musics do not constitute any form of preparation. Preparation is getting in touch with your past, identifying your issues, requesting your power, and opening your heart.
At this time, I cannot help you directly. I can help you explore and judge your options. Few "above ground" psychedelic-assisted therapy programs meet my standards of experience, honesty, or insight. I recommend experienced facilitators from other cultures. If you're doing psychedelics with a person of Western cultural lineage you must understand they have no tradition. Their identity is recently invented. My experience comes from deep experience in modern science, clinical psychology, and traditional indigenous cultures from across the world. I can point you to people whose services I endorse, but I cannot join you. They will not be local.
This is no more a "thing" than counseling is a thing. If preparation is assembling the ingredients, and journeying is watching the fireworks, then integration is living your life. And it's life that is the real journey. The psychedelic just provides a spotlight. Ideally, if it's a good journey, then it doesn't end. If it's a bad journey then, like a nightmare, you don't just paper it over, you fix it. The goal is to go out singing. It can be done.
