The Process

STEP

1

Booking & Initial Contact: Once a participant books their retreat and confirms their payment, our team personally reaches out to welcome them and begin their preparation process. They are invited into a private online space where they receive access to a full Preparation Course, which includes everything they need to get ready—dietary guidelines (la dieta), emotional and spiritual preparation tips, mindset support, and expectations management. This allows each guest to arrive well-informed, centered, and open to the experience.
STEP

2

Medical Screening: We collect important health information through a thorough intake form and follow up with any necessary questions. This helps us ensure participant safety and tailor support where needed. Our team maintains a trauma-informed, heart-centered approach to care at every stage.
STEP

3

Arrival & Transportation: Guests are welcomed in Medellín, Colombia, where private transportation is arranged to take them to La Wayra’s retreat center, nestled in the peaceful Andean mountains of Fredonia. Upon arrival, they are greeted by our staff and settle into their shared or private rooms. Nourishing meals and gentle orientation help guests ground into the space and prepare for the work ahead.
STEP

4

Daily Community Connection: Each day begins with a group sharing circle, where participants explore their intentions, emotional processes, and personal insights. These daily circles create a strong sense of community, safety, and reflection. We also offer guided yoga and meditation sessions, which help participants center themselves, regulate their nervous systems, and reconnect with their bodies.
STEP

5

Ceremonial Work: Our Ayahuasca ceremonies are facilitated by Taita Jose Fernando Jojoa of the Inga Indigenous tradition. Depending on the retreat length, participants may experience 2 to 10 ceremonies. Each one is supported with ancestral music, rituals, and the presence of an experienced team. Additional practices such as rapé, intentional fasting (dieta), and quiet time for solitude are part of the deep healing container.
STEP

6

Onsite Integration & Activities: Integration is woven into the entire retreat experience through daily circles, one-on-one emotional support, and optional practices like yoga, meditation, and breathwork. These activities help participants process insights, restore balance, and connect deeply with themselves. The serene natural environment — with rivers, a pool, and forest trails — supports both rest and clarity. Guests are encouraged to spend time in silence, journaling, or simply being present with their inner process.
STEP

7

Post-Retreat Integration Support: The journey doesn’t end when the retreat does. After departure, participants are invited to remain connected through our virtual community. We provide continued integration resources, optional group sessions, and are always available for questions, emotional support, or guidance. Our goal is to ensure that no one feels alone in the process — La Wayra remains a source of support long after the last ceremony.

Session Types

Ayahuasca ceremony

At La Wayra, our primary healing modality is the traditional Ayahuasca ceremony, guided with deep respect for Indigenous wisdom and held in a safe, intentional space. Each ceremony is led by Taita Jose Fernando Jojoa, a respected shaman from the Inga tradition of the Colombian Amazon, with decades of experience in plant medicine work. Our ceremonies are held at night and follow a sacred structure, incorporating ancestral songs (icaros), live music, ritual elements, and silent periods for inner exploration. The number of ceremonies varies depending on the length of the retreat (typically between 2 to 10 ceremonies). Each experience is unique and tailored to the individual's process, offering deep emotional release, clarity, and spiritual connection.

Word circles

Daily group sharing circles are an essential part of the integration process. These safe, heart-centered spaces allow guests to reflect on their journey, process insights, and receive support from the community. They help participants feel seen, heard, and connected throughout the retreat.

Yoga and meditation

We offer guided yoga and meditation sessions to support physical grounding, emotional release, and mental clarity. These practices help regulate the nervous system, prepare the body for ceremony, and provide a gentle space for self-connection and integration.

Relaxation Massage

As an optional therapeutic treatment, we also offer relaxation massages to support the body’s healing process. These massages help release tension, improve circulation, and promote deep rest — especially after emotionally intense ceremonial work.

José Fernando Jojoa · Taita

Taita Fernando Jojoa has been serving as a shaman for over 12 years, following a path that began at just seven years old when he began drinking sacred medicine three times a week for a decade. He hails from the Jojoa lineage, a nine-generation tradition of Inga healers, rooted deeply in Putumayo, Colombia. He grows and brews his own Ayahuasca, sustaining the medicine’s potency and tradition. In addition to his shamanic practice, Taita Fernando is a gifted musician, whose live icaro singing and ceremonial music create a powerful container for healing and transformation. A humble yet powerful presence, he balances deep spiritual authority with accessibility—participants often describe him as both a guiding force within ceremonies and a wise brother during integration. Taita Fernando has also shared his healing work globally—bringing his practice to Europe and beyond—while maintaining his roots in the Amazonian rainforest.
