Jacqueline Robertson holds a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. Her studies and focus include attachment theory, grief and loss the nervous system, and the effects of early childhood trauma on adult romantic relationships. The study of attachment theory provides evidence that our early life relationships with our primary caregivers have a significant impact on our self-esteem, mental health, and interpersonal relationships. When we rewire our brain through cognitive, somatic, and behavioral interventions, we increase our ability to tolerate difficult emotions, manage stress, and experience healthy, sustainable relationships. Jacqueline specializes in treating issues related to self-esteem, perfectionism, trauma, life transitions, stress, anxiety, grief & loss, divorce, and relationship challenges. Her expertise is focused on helping individuals and couples address challenges including dating difficulties, co-dependence, mistrust, infidelity, communication, insecurities, and partner conflict. Jacqueline has extensive training in mindfulness and somatic-based therapies, helping clients to become more conscious of negative thoughts and respond compassionately through nurturing inner dialogue and narratives. Jacqueline is trained in Attachment Theory, EMDR, CBT, Somatic Psychotherapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Hakomi Mindfulness. Working for and with Byron Katie, for five years, Jacqueline is well versed in mindful inquiry and “The Work. based in Ojai, California, where she lived and worked. She offers private women’s and couples retreats and one-day intensives with a focus on EMDR, ritual and ceremonial practices, sound healing, and guided meditation and visualization. Her goal is to help clients navigate toward growth and positive change in their emotional health and relationships by identifying and working with limiting core beliefs and dysfunctional patterns. Jacqueline’s intention is to teach clients practical tools, skills, and practices to transform painful behaviors, have more loving relationships, and have greater self-compassion.

The Process

STEP

1

KAP Process: 1. 20-30 minute phone/video consultation with me to assess if you would be a good candidate for KAP. 2. I help to set you up with a medical professional who prescribes ketamine for medical clearance and assesses for a prescription. 3. If approved, we schedule your first 3-6 psychotherapy/KAP preparation sessions and first KAP session. 4. Sessions are scheduled one week apart, with KAP sessions having one session in between dedicated to integration.

Individual Psychotherapy

I use a holistic, integrative approach to therapy which draws from several therapeutic modalities depending on your needs. This includes EMDR, Hakomi mindfulness, somatic experiencing, neuroscience, attachment theory, emotionally focused therapy (EFT), internal family system or “parts work” and hypnosis. My approach addresses working with body, mind, and soul with a strong emphasis on attachment theory, trauma-informed therapy, Hakomi-Mindfulness, and EMDR for individuals and couples. I teach clients to develop a relationship with their body/nervous system, bridging the gap between mind and heart. When we are grounded in our bodies and connected to our true selves, we have an opportunity to feel more at peace and express our authentic truth. Attachment (Relational) Trauma & Relationships Human beings are born with an innate need, to form a close emotional bond (attachment) with their primary caregivers. Our first "serious relationship" in life begins as an infant with our caregivers. This relationship provides us with a blueprint for the way we view ourselves, the world, and relationships. Our early life attachment experiences inform us about trust, autonomy, and safety. If our attachment bonds have been disrupted, severed, challenged, or inconsistent, as adults we might struggle with trust issues, fear of abandonment, or intimacy and closeness. Psychotherapy and counseling offer an opportunity to explore and repair painful attachment wounding and relational injuries through helping clients reparent younger parts in the context of a safe, therapeutic relationship.

Couples Psychotherapy

I work with couples to help them identify and break free from painful, destructive patterns. Relationships are more than communication, trust, and love. They are about honoring and respecting ourselves enough to allow ALL of ourselves to be seen. We can do this by offering unconditional love and support that best validates our boundaries, authenticity, and truth and does not require us to abandon and sacrifice ourselves. Relationships are meant to celebrate, nourish, and replenish you. With an open mind, heart, and gentle curiosity, we can hold the relationship as an opportunity for deep personal growth, mutual healing, and self-discovery. We can realize our full potential as human beings, not alone, but together. We will rewire your heart and nervous system so you can experience, devoted, intimate, and conscious love and stop trying to mold or change yourself for another to love you. My approach to couples therapy includes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Non-Violent Communication (NVC), attachment theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS) or "parts work", Hakomi Mindfulness and Somatic Experiencing.
