Awake in the Dream is forging a path that reconnects science to spirituality, psychology to earth-consciousness, and self to the collective, in service to a paradigm shift in modern medicine.
Awake in the Dream: School of Integrative Consciousness provides online education, certification and community for therapists and wellness practitioners who want to support their clients as they prepare for and integrate the often life-changing impact of psychedelic medicine.
The Process

You will begin by completing our online form to book a discovery call. We will discuss the program and whether it is a proper fit for your needs. About the Program
In order for healing to be deeply realized in our communities, we need more than psychedelic experiences. We need wings of support on either side. Through this training, we are establishing a diverse network of practitioners who can confidently offer this support to their clients before and after their transformative journeys. This way, ceremonial insights and growth can be sustained beyond the medicine experience.
Graduates of this training will have a fundamental understanding of the history, pharmacology, and contraindications of commonly used psychedelics in addition to demonstrated competency applying a proprietary method of psychedelic integration and much more. CEs available
Our teachings are appropriate for healthcare professionals as well as the general public. Healthcare professionals will be able to incorporate the tools and practices offered in this program in ways beneficial to clients or patients.

What You’ll Get
Through a combination of self-paced video lectures, live Zoom sessions, reading assignments, forum discussions, and an in-person practical intensive in beautiful Costa Rica, this 6-month journey will build your expertise in the following areas:
The pharmacology, history and medical contraindications of 8+ medicines
Intercultural perspectives and psycho-spiritual considerations
Ethics, benefit sharing practices, safety, and accessibility within psychedelic spaces
Specific treatment opportunities with psychedelics, such as addiction, end-of-life and depression
In-depth tools for helping your clients prepare for a psychedelic journey
A unique integration method that utilizes ancient dreamwork techniques, embodiment practices and depth psychology (with a 5-day practicum retreat in Costa Rica - scroll down for more info!)

Embodied
Imagination®
The foundation of our integration training is the proprietary method that's developed out of Katherine's decades of research and practice in dreamwork, Embodied Imagination®, Depth Psychology, and Psychedelic Integration.
Learning Embodied Imagination® techniques will enable you to safely guide your clients into expanded states of consciousness, where they are able to gain greater embodied clarity about their psychedelic processes.
This unique approach to integration helps journeyers to ‘get out of their own way' and receive the insights of their journey beyond what habitual consciousness allows.
It has been shown to be deeply effective in harmonizing more challenging psychedelic experiences, as well giving journeyers concrete tools to carry their psychedelic insights into their daily lives.

5
Month One: Getting Started
Throughout the 1st month, you’ll learn foundational histories regarding the use of and response to psychedelic medicines across cultures and eras. We’ll cover the stigmas, myths and cultural perspectives that have led to the criminalization and suppression of psychedelic substances, and dig deep into the role of mysticism and spirituality in contemporary medicine. You’ll also be introduced to the historical origins of Embodied Imagination® - our dreamwork-inspired integration method.
Month Two: Meeting Our Allies
Month 2 will get you intimate with the history and pharmacology of 8+ psychedelic and psychoactive allies. By the end of this month's coursework, you'll be familiar with chemical classes, medical contraindications, intercultural perspectives on psychedelic healing and more.
You'll continue to build your theoretical knowledge of the Embodied Imagination® practice, overviewing the step-by-step process and discussing the role of archetypes, the imaginal realm, and the transformative potential of uniting embodiment practices with imaginative faculties.
Month Three: The Art of Preparation
In month 3, we'll start focusing on supporting a journeyer before their psychedelic experience. These lessons will equip you with the knowledge and tools necessary to encourage a safe and nourishing journey for your client. We'll share best practices for choosing a facilitator, and discuss ceremonial ethics.
We'll also take a swim through the mystical, sharing ritual insights and tools for helping your client to hone their ceremonial intentions.
Month Four: Applying the Practice (Costa Rica Intensive!)
The 4th month of our journey begins with an in-person practicum in Costa Rica. We'll take this opportunity to be in community and get immersed in the practice of Embodied Imagination® techniques.
When we return to the online format, we'll be focused on how to incorporate these techniques during integration sessions, and dig into other post-journey resources and support systems.
Month Five: Putting it All Together
Month 5 is a departure from form. Now that we've covered the principles of EI and gotten the opportunity for supervised practice in Costa Rica, this month will be dedicated to fulfilling your practicum hours. You'll also get to meet with your teachers 1:1 to discuss your progress and get questions answered as you deepen into your practice of Embodied Imagination® Integration.
Month Six: Graduation
For the 6th and final month of our cohort, we'll set you up for success by bringing in a guest teacher to discuss the business side of the equation. We'll finish off the course with a review process and final fishbowl EI® sessions, required to complete the certification. Then, we celebrate your emergence as a specialized integration guide!

Costa Rica Immersive
A 5-day Embodied Imagination® Integration Intensive
June 2024
A mandatory part of our training, we’ll all meet in person in Costa Rica during month four of the program. We’ll be gathering at Brave Earth for a 5 day retreat intensive. In our time on the land together, you’ll learn first hand how to navigate the expanded states of consciousness involved in Embodied Imagination® Integration
The mission of Brave Earth (Tierra Valiente) is to create a new type of model, a living laboratory, that is anchored in the principles of reciprocity, regeneration and resiliency. There, amidst the jungle, thermal pools and cloud forest, we will attune to new and ancient ways of living.

Retreat Logistics
We will share 4 nights and 5 days in Costa Rica, enjoying Brave Earth’s delicious food, luscious gardens, and of course - focusing on refining your practice of Embodied Imagination® Integration.
The cost for the retreat which includes 4 nights of lodging as well as truly amazing meals for the entirety of your stay, is included in tuition. Rooms are first come, first serve, with upgrades available for an additional cost. Airfare is not included.
There will also be an $80/pp ($40 each way) shuttle fee for transportation from and to SJO airport, which is about a 2-3 hour ride. You’ll also have the option to visit a nearby volcanic thermal spa during your trip, which we highly recommend!
We will follow up with you after enrollment to establish your room preferences and set up payment for the retreat.

Dr. Katherine Lawson
is an Integrative Mental Health Specialist, a certified Embodied Imagination® practitioner, consultant, psycho-spiritual counselor, and an international speaker. She has spent nearly two decades examining the intersections between healing, dreaming, mysticism, and psychedelics. As a BIPOC woman, cancer survivor, and the parent of a son who she nearly lost to addiction, she teaches and utilizes holistic therapies for PTSD and other types of unprocessed wounds, as well as sharing stories of healing. She is fascinated by the interactions between the brain, mind, body, and personality, as well as the powerful ways in which societal and spiritual factors affect health and happiness. She has recently published Dreamwork for Growth and Healing: A Guided Dream Journal.

Ophilia Mandara
